About Me

Making your life easier is my mission.

I have over ten years of professional experience writing corporate communications and designing easy-to-use web sites. I've completed projects for companies like Ford, Compuware, Kmart, and Automatic Labs. For example:

  • Content, such as web copy, user's guides, articles, proposals, newsletters, and books.
  • Standards-based web design for your presence on the web or your company's intranet.
  • Online help for WinHelp and HTML-based Help systems.

Any questions?

1. What do you charge for [insert project type here]?

It's always the first question I get, so I might as well get it out of the way. My rates are...competitive. I'm sorry, I know you wanted more, but I usually charge a flat fee for my projects, so it's hard to give price quotes without first learning the details of your project. After we've talked, though, I'll have a price quote ready for you within 24-48 hours, depending on the complexity of your project.

2. I just got your price quote. I can get half your fee from someone else...

That's true, but then you'd get half the quality that I can give you. My fees are based on industry averages. Copywriters and web designers who charge fees way below the standard range usually have no confidence in their abilities. Why would you put your project in the hands of someone who doesn't think his talents are worth market rates?

3. How are you different from all the other copywriters and web designers out there?

Integrity -- I deliver what I say I'll deliver, on the date we agree. And I won't reveal your confidential information to third parties.

Technical savvy -- I have over fifteen years of experience writing high-tech copy. You won't have to hold my hand through a highly technical project.

Pleasant attitude -- I won't get huffy when you ask for a change to the copy or web sites I develop for you. I like working with smart, pleasant people just as much as you do.

I'm not saying other writers and web designers lack these qualities, but few have a combination of all three.

4. How can you write about something you know nothing about?

I can't. But I'm insatiably curious -- I'll ask you a ton of questions until I "get it."

5. Copy writing and web sites? Aren't you trying to be a "jack of all trades, master of none?"

Not at all -- I specialize in both trades. Isn't that a good thing? Say you hire me to design a web site. Who better to write the content than the guy who designed the site and already knows your business? Or maybe you hire me to write a paper-based newsletter. I can show you how to get that newsletter on the web so you can reach more customers.

6. Okay, you've convinced me. How do we get started?
